The public telephone in Claris is outside the Auckland Council Buildings, opposite the Health Centre and Playground.

In all emergencies dial 111 Great Barrier Volunteer Rural Fire Force There are several fire stations around the island, all manned by volunteers.

These playgrounds are on the GBI Sports and Social Club ggrounds, next to the tennis courts.

The playgrounds at Gooseberry Flat are located at the southern end of Gooseberry Flat Beach.

Vehicle access is allowed on the southern end of Medlands Beach for boat launching. Four wheel drive required unless you want to get stuck in the sand on an incoming tide 🙂

The public toilets at Medlands Beach are located at the car park as you head towards the beach.

This campsite is set back from Medlands Beach amongst mature trees. The estuary is safe for swimming and the beach is popular for surfing.
